Swimming in Stockholm

Last week we managed to tick off another thing on our bucket list! We decided to go swimming while the sun was still out and it was still warm(ish). Before we went on our trip we told our Swedish friends who were horrified at the thought of going swimming in September… We were warned about the cold but now they had set us a challenge and we definitely didn’t want to put it off and have to go in December. So unfortunately we couldn’t convince the Swedes to come with us, but our friend Yuki from Japan was much more enthusiastic and decided to put up with us five for the day.

We ventured to a freshwater lake called Mälaren, the third biggest lake in Sweden. The water wasn’t deep enough to jump into so we had to walk in inch by inch, which made the water seem even colder. After about 30 minutes we all managed to get in and have a wee swim. Some of us were even brave enough to go completely under!

Thanks for joining us, Yuki! It was a lovely day.
